Anambra guber: Composer of Biafra anthem faults IPOB’s position

By Ninfo9ja

The composer of Biafra Anthem, All Hail Biafra, which Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, uses, Chief Charles O. Okereke, has disagreed with the call by the group for people to boycott the November 18 governorship in Anambra State, saying that it was not taken in the interest of the people.

According to Okereke, who is the publisher of Masterweb, one of Africa’s foremost online news media; the Biafran agitators should realize “they should be lawful till Biafra comes.”

He however said that the agitators have the right to agitate for self determination.

Speaking to journalists in Umuahia weekend, Okereke said: “I have no issues with the way agitators like IPOB are going about their agitation but I feel that discussing it through seeking opinion is better.

“For me, I don’t think that the UN will come to conduct referendum with the approval of the Federal Government and the National Assembly. Even if they approve it, members of the National Assembly will have to talk to the people they represent.

“Our leaders will not be interested because they may lose. To me, I have a different way to correct things like bad governance, and that is by being involved in elections to elect good leaders.”

Okereke, who said that it is the same anthem he authored in 1970 that the IPOB uses, however said that he was not involved in Biafran activities.
