The Assistant Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service, Zone B, Kaduna, Aminu Dahiru, said on Tuesday that the commencement of international flight operation from Kaduna Airport would boost revenue generation of the zonal command.
Dahiru said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kaduna that it was a good development for the customs service.
“It is good that Ethiopian Airlines has started operation from Kaduna; though the operation hasn’t taken long, but we hope in the near future they will bring in cargo.
“Once they start to bring in cargo, it automatically means more duty will be collected within the zone.
“It will be an additional source of revenue for Katsina/Kaduna command apart from the border operation and inland container terminal here.
“So with this, we will say that Kaduna is almost covering all the three points of entry, the terminal, airport and border,’’ the zonal coordinator said.
He stressed that the service had strengthened its capacity across the zone to prevent smuggling and ensure that all revenue due to government were collected.
Dahiru appealed to residents of border communities to support the customs service in its efforts to stop cross border smuggling and criminality.(NAN)
