Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, took a massive hit after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Congo in Kumasi on Friday.
Although the Black Stars dominated most of the proceedings, it was Congo who opened the scoring goal after 18 minutes through Thievy Bifouma. Joseph Attamah, who was making his debut, got dispossessed on the edge of the area by Fabrice Ondama, who cut the ball back for Bifouma to score.
The home team only equalized with five minutes left, after Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Party angled his shot across goalkeeper Barel Mouko, following a fine pass from Christian Atsu.
The result means the Black Stars stay third in Group E with just two points from three matches.
Uganda are top of the group on seven points, after yesterday’s 1-0 win over Egypt, who are second on six points.
