Three persons have been remanded in prison by a Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday for murder of a University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), lecturer, Dr. Eeba Lebari.
According to The Nation, the suspects are - the deceased's gateman, Christopher Kinanee, Lebari Robert Tambari, and Ibrahim Useni, a Republic of Benin national.
Useni was the deceased's housemaid.
The suspects were arrested between December 2015 and early this month.
They were arraigned for conspiracy, kidnapping and murder.
The Chief Magistrate, Andrew Jaja, ordered that the charges be read out to the accused.
He, however, said the court lacks the powers to entertain the case, being a capital offence punishable with maximum sentence.
He ordered that the original case file be duplicated and handed over to the registrar of the court, who will in turn forward same to the office of the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.
He adjourned the case till September 28.
